Biography:

Youssef Mahmoud has two years of railway experience. He is a graduate of Civil Engineering with a minor in management from the University of Manitoba and graduated on the dean’s honor list. He is currently working as a project coordinator -Rail and Transit at WSP. Before that, he worked as a civil engineering student in rail and Transit at WSP for more than one year. Youssef has been involved in multiple railway-related projects. He performed railway crossing assessments and designs, participated in rail track designs from the conceptual to the detailed design phase, and performed alignment design and surface grading. Additionally, he worked on the development of a long-term renewals plan for BHP’s iron ore operations in the Pilbara Region in Western Australia, which considered asset condition and network performance metrics. Currently, He is working on the Calgary Green Line project as an Engineer-in-training in the track design team. He also participated in revisiting the condition of an existing at-grade roadway intersection and proposing a grade-separation interchange as his graduation project at the University of Manitoba. He was involved in conducting a traffic analysis (microsimulation and macrosimulation) for the existing intersection and the proposed intersections using Synchro, designing the proposed roadway, and designing the proposed active transportation network.
