Julian Carneiro is a Computer Engineering MSc student at the University of Manitoba under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Regehr and Dr. Ian Jeffrey. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba. He focuses on using novel signal processing techniques such as the wavelet transform to bring new understanding to the rail industry, as well as finding space in the industry for applied machine learning. His work includes analyzing corrugation data and accelerometer data from a signal processing perspective and applying sequence learning to this data through machine learning architectures like LSTMs and HMMs.
