In February 2024, the agreement for the Manitoba Highway Traffic Information System (MHTIS), a partnership between Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) and the Urban Mobility and Transportation Informatics Group (UMTIG) at the University of Manitoba, was renewed.
MHTIS is planned, designed, implemented, and operated by graduate students and associates of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba, working with Dr. Jonathan Regehr, P. Eng. and Dr. Babak Mehran, P.Eng. Raw data concerning traffic on Manitoba highways is provided by Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure. The data is processed, analyzed, summarized and disseminated by MHTIS in accordance with established procedures. This partnership leverages the strengths and expertise of both institutions to provide valuable insights and data on traffic patterns across Manitoba’s highways.
